The D.I.Y. Baddie Effect

Am I the only one who noticed the D.I.Y. girlies trending?! As a self proclaimed D.I.Y connoisseur myself, I am so excited to see the girls exploring beauty and self care in a new way. Now this doesn’t mean that everyone is jumping ship to self service beauty, but there has been a serious shift in how, and who, people are spending their money with. The streets are tired of the casual “Hey Boo” texts from service providers who have a million booking rules, crazy deposits, and no same day/ walk-in service options. The girls are entering their redemption era, and I love it!

This change in beauty consumerism has been coming for some time, and with inflation on a serious rise, beauty and self care consumers are really thinking about where they are dropping their coins. Oddly enough the money flow into the beauty sector isn’t slowing down as the industry is projected to jump from $625 billion to $736 billion in annual revenue, by 2028. That’s more than $100 BILLION dollars being pushed out despite the girlies watching their coins. I think there will be a serious rise in people investing more money into their hair and makeup tools and building up their personal skills in order to cut costs over all. The era of YouTube makeup tutorials is back and I am SO here for it!

Personally I think the 2010’s beauty YouTube run should be studied. The Gurus really taught a generation of women how to do makeup. They are literally what inspired me to pursue makeup (The story is much deeper than that, lol). I hope that the new generation of influencers and gurus connect and inspire the girls in the way I was once inspired.
